The Northern Marianas College through the Community Development Institute is offering a short-term course on kundalini yoga, which is an ancient discipline designed to enhance overall physical and mental wellness.

During this course, participants will learn how to do different yoga poses along with meditation and breathing techniques. The benefits of kundalini yoga include improved posture to decrease incidence of injury, increased physical strength and flexibility, and more relaxation and greater control of stress. Participants will also learn foot massage techniques, as well as important nutritional information.

This course is offered as part of the college’s mission to provide customized, continuing educational, professional development, as well as personal enrichment opportunities in response to community needs.

Additionally, courses that are offered through CDI are designed to improve individual knowledge and specific skills, are geared around actual workforce needs and experiences based on course surveys, community needs assessments, and interviews with employers.

The Kundalini Yoga course will begin on Friday, April 13, 2012, and will continue every Friday until the last day on May 18, 2012. The schedule is 9am to 10:30am at the NMC As Terlaje campus. The course fee is $90. Minimum enrollment for this course is 15 enrollees.

It is preferred that all interested individuals register before the start of the first day of class. Certificates of completion will be awarded to registered students who complete all course requirements. Full payment is required for admission to a class.

To register, or for information about these classes, please visit the CDI Office in Building P on the NMC Campus in As Terlaje or call Les Ogumoro-Uludong at 234-5498 extension 1010 or e-mail logumoro@nmcnet.edu. (NMC)
