Hyatt Regency Saipan has new executive chef
Hartmut Kehm is the new executive chef of Hyatt Regency Saipan. Kehm comes from Grand Hyatt in Jakarta, Indonesia and he takes over the position that former Hyatt executive chef Gabrielle Colombo left last March.
“I have been here on Saipan for a week and currently familiarizing myself with the Hyatt’s local clientele and tourists and then I will see where I can go from there… I am very excited to work again with Hyatt general manager Nick Ishikawa as I know him from my posts in Japan and Guam before,” Kehm said.
“I have been with Hyatt for 30 years now and that is a very long time. When I started, we only had 36 hotels worldwide and now we have over a thousand,” he added.
Ishikawa is looking forward to working with Kehm again.” I worked with him for several years in Guam and Japan. He is going to be with us for many years and until we get the extension,” he said.
“… The island needs these hotels (citing Fiesta Resort & Spa also with an expiring lease)… we ask for the support of the people to talk to the governor, lieutenant governor, lawmakers, and other officials so we can move forward,” he added.
