The New Saipan Aluminum-Hustlers, seen here in a file photo, upset IT&E-Voyagers last Tuesday in their SBA Budweiser semifinal pairing at Utopia Sports Bar. (Walter Sutherland)  The New Saipan Aluminum-Hustlers upset Jonny’s Bar & Grill’s top ranked IT&E-Voyagers, 9-5, in Tuesday’s Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Cup postseason tournament semifinals at Utopia Sports Bar.

Meanwhile, Joe’s Steakhouse’s Fotten Palau advanced to the Obyan Division final and is waiting to see whether they will challenge either Jonny’s Crazy 8 or 19th Hole Bar & Grill’s Titans for the postseason championship.

The Hustlers finished third place among the handful of teams that make up the elite-level Agingan Division. IT&E-Voyagers eliminated Poseidon’s Docomo Pacific-Home Boyz, 9-5, on the road last May 15.

After its win over IT&E-Voyagers, the Hustlers will now take on fourth place IT&E-Incredibles in next Tuesday’s finals at Bammy’s Bar & Grill. IT&E Incredibles downed bottom feeder Ocean Warriors, 9-4, in a road match at Joe’s in Tuesday’s other semis game.

Obyan’s Fotten Palau, meanwhile, came into nine-team contest in sixth place and defeated caboose team Boom Boom, 9-4, on the road at Bammy’s last Tuesday to punch its ticket to the dance. The team routed 19th Hole’s Poksu, 9-2, on the road in last week’s second round.

The top-ranked Titans made it past second place Team SCS, 9-7, in a tight road match last week and advanced over third-seeded Yang-Ku, 9-3, last Tuesday at Poseidon.

Fourth-ranked Crazy 8 advanced to the semis last week over No. 5 Shark Attack, 9-7, at Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill.

The Agingan Division finals is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Obyan’s final table will be set next week leading up to its final duel on June 5.
