The Northern Marianas Humanities Council elected a new slate of officers during its quarterly meeting last week.

Robert H. Hunter, Frankie M. Eliptico, and Joann T. Aquino were the board’s unanimous choices for the positions of chair, vice chair, and secretary/treasurer respectively.

The trio replaces outgoing chair David J. Attao, vice chair Tracy M. Guerrero, and secretary/treasurer Rose T. Ada-Hocog. All three had held their offices for the past two years

Hunter, who was elected to the board in 2011, is the executive director of the CNMI Museum of History and Culture. Before being tapped to lead the council, Hunter served two years as chairman of its Program Committee.

Eliptico, director of external relations at Northern Marianas College, was appointed to the board by Gov. Eloy S. Inos is 2013. He brings a strong background in fundraising and has been a key member of the Council’s Development Committee over the past year.

Aquino, a veteran board member who joined the board in 2009, is operations coordinator at the Saipan Mayor’s Office. She has served on a variety of council committees during her tenure and held the position of secretary/treasurer previously.

In addition to electing officers, the board also adopted its annual audit report and fundraising plan, acted on community grant applications, and approved new council projects.

The Humanities Council is a private, 501c3 organization established in 1991. It is also eligible to receive tax deductible donations under the Educational Tax Credit program.
