SANTA RITA, Guam—Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC 25) assisted in containing a wildfire in Santa Rita, Guam on April 13.

As part of an ongoing relationship with local emergency services, HSC-25 was asked to support an emerging fire at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

An MH-60S helicopter made 20 runs on the fire. The crew flew a total of 1.5 hours in support of the mission effectively fighting the fire away from the Naval Magazine and the nearby residential area.

The wildfire was contained at approximately 7:10 p.m. with 20 bucket loads dropped on the forward advance of the fire totaling 8,400 gallons of water.

“We at HSC-25 are always glad to support Guam,” said Lt. Cmdr. Wesley Johnson, aircraft commander of the crew who rendered assistance. “This is one example of the many missions the HSC community provides to support Guam and operations in the 7th Fleet area of operations from humanitarian aid, disaster relief to combat operations. The crew performed superbly and I’m proud of the Island Knight team.”
