‘How Deep is Your Love’ signup extended to Friday
Those who want to attend the “How Deep is Your Love?” couples event that Life in the Son Saipan is organizing this Sunday, March 29, have until tomorrow, March 27, to sign up.
“How Deep is Your Love?” will be held from 3pm to 9pm at the Kanoa Resort Seaside Hall.
Mark and Terry Benavente will be conducting the couples event and it will be made up of two sessions: “Identification of Love” and “Rightly Expressing Emotions.”
Identifications of love are those words, gestures, actions, and attitudes we interpret as love from others. Learn how these “packages” become idols that define and limit our idea of what true love is to us. When we demand these “packages” of love from those around us, we practice unregenerate love, denying ourselves the full joy in giving and receiving true love.
Rightly Expressing Emotions looks to Jesus as a model for dealing with our own human emotions. Through His responses in the Garden of Gethsemane, we explore some of the wrong attitudes we have about our own emotional life. We will learn what emotions are, how to identify and accept them, as well as how to express them appropriately. When we learn to do this as Jesus did, it becomes possible for us to share who we truly are with others.
Mark has been a pastor for over 20 years in Guam. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii in Communications and is presently the Pastor of Life in the Son Christian Fellowship, an Every Nation Church in Guam.
Terry has worked with the Department of Education in Guam for over 28 years and more recently retired as a Behavior Specialist with the department. She graduated from the University of Guam with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a master’s in Special Education.
Both Mark and Terry attended the International School of Theology in Colorado. They have also been involved with Elijah House Ministries for over 15 years. They are the founders and directors of Elijah House Guam, a faith-based counseling ministry and one of 11 International Elijah Houses.
The ministry of Elijah House Guam has extended into other countries such as Singapore and Jakarta where they have conducted schools, seminars on marriage, parenting, and inner healing as well as provide individual counseling and internship training.
