The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a House resolution that honors Marvin Slone Tamangided for being named 2014 CNMI Public School Teacher of the Year.

House Resolution 18-65, authored by Rep. Teresita A. Santos (R-Rota), was passed by the House committee of the whole.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to all the House members for adopting Mr. Tamangided’s resolution,” said Santos following the passage of the resolution.

The resolution states that Tamangided became a middle school classroom teacher at Dr. Rita H. Inos Junior/Senior High School in 2010 and originally taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts, Social Studies, and Business Math.

From school year 2012 to 2013 though, Tamangided took on additional responsibilities, becoming a 7th grade English Language Arts e-teacher under the Distance Education Online program for the CNMI Public School System.

The House resolution states that Tamangided won the 2014 CNMI-wide PSS Teacher of the Year plum among a field of 20 outstanding public school teachers.

The award was given to Tamangided during the 2014 Public School System banquet held Oct. 29 at the Royal Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort.

Tamangided is in his fifth year teaching on Rota. He is originally from Saipan, having attended Garapan Elementary School, Hopwood Junior High School, and Marianas High School before heading to Guam for college.
