Hospital reopens its dental clinic
The dental clinic at the Commonwealth Health Center has reopened and is now ready to serve the public. The dental clinic is open from Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
According to Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Muña, the clinic provides preventive and curative services.
“Services that fall under preventive care are oral examinations, prophylaxis, X rays, fluoride varnish, and sealant applications. Services that fall under curative care are filings, extractions, root canal therapy, and gum therapy,” Muña said.
Muña said the clinic has one dentist, Dr. Adam J. Gentry, and three dental assistants.
The clinic’s reopening was made possible by a Health Resources and Services Administration grant.
For now, Medicaid is the only insurance provider that is being accepted at the clinic, Muña said.
“The provider agreement with Staywell Insurance is still being reviewed. Also the clinic is planning in the near future to have a sliding fee scale program to assist patients who have difficulty paying for dental services,” Muña said.
She said the clinic’s revenue is averaging about $15,000 a month in Medicaid claims alone.
