Hopwood hosts PTSA Family Fun Night

Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Jr. High School celebrated the Inaugural PTSA Family Fun Night Fundraising event last April 29.

The first Mr. and Mrs. Hilitai candidates were officially crowned. HJHS principal Jonas M. Barcinas and HJHS PTSA president Elizabeth P. Olouachel congratulated and welcomed the royal court and candidates’ parents and families, PTSA officers for their leadership, teachers and staff, for their team effort, committee members, vendors participants, and all the sponsors that have made this year’s event possible.

He shared the success of this year’s PTSA Family Fun Night Festivity and Mr & Miss Hilitai Raffle Ticket fundraising activity.

Barcinas stressed and thanked the hard work of the candidates and their parents for going out of their way to sale their raffle tickets because truly want to help the school with its urgent needs such as emergency repairs and maintenance, student and staff’s incentives, supplies, and materials that the local funds is unable to provide.

Barcinas also thanked all of the community for helping the school with its raffle ticket sales as well as the Department of Public Safety and Department of Emergency and Medical Services staff for providing public safety for all those that were at the event.

To add to this memorable event, the HDMP band and dance crew’s performance included liveliness that night. Vendors were everywhere, the aroma of food filled the air, games were being played, and it really made people feel rejuvenated that night. Many activities added fun into this event. Games like Spin the Wheel, Prize Pong, and basketball were being played simultaneously throughout the event. The candidates all sat down in an organized manner with fancy attire and decorations while awaiting the coronation of Mr. and Mrs. Hilitai.

While people waited for this important moment, many Hopwood clubs were out with their booths hoping to make people have fun with their activities. Clubs such as: NJHS, STUCO, MyWave, YAP, and Campus Police were supporting this event. NJHS had Spin the Wheel, STUCO had face painting, MyWave had water balloon toss, YAP had Prize Pong, and Campus Police were patrolling the campus to ensure the safety of the people.

According to the Hopwood Junior High School staff, Family Fun Night was a successful event. Many students enjoyed the Family Fun Night with their friends, families, and teachers. This is a very important event to all of the participants because they get to be together, have fun, and just be free for once. With many smiles on people’s faces, the HJHS Family Fun Night was a successful way for students, parents, and staff to have a well-deserved break.
