Hopwood 1 wins season debut

Hopwood Middle School 1 delivered in its opening game after defeating Dandan Middle School 2 in the 2019-2020 Public School System Interscholastic Girls Middle School Volleyball League that kicked off last Wednesday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

Hopwood 1 had a rousing start in its debut after hammering Dandan 2 in the first set, 21-6. The Hilitais ended up sweeping its debut game following a 21-12 triumph in the second.

Meanwhile, Agape Christian School, Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, Hopwood 2 and 3, Chacha Oceanview Middle School 1 and 2, DMS 1, Grace Christian School, Tanapag Middle School, and Saipan International School also played in the opening week of the league.

Agape won both sets, 21-0, 21-0, while Dandan 1 defeated Hopwood 2 in similar scores against Hopwood 2. Also getting easy wins in two sets were SIS and GCA, who topped Chacha 2 and Tanapag, respectively.

In other results, Hopwood 3 faced off Chacha 1 and labored its way to a 21-16 win in the first set before recording a much easier 21-12 victory in the second.

Action in the middle school volleyball league will continue this weekend and 12 games will be played starting at 9am.

On the North Court, Chacha 1 will take on Mt. Carmel 1; Hopwood 3 will face Agape; Dandan 2 will battle FMS and Hopwood 3; Agape will face Mt. Carmel 1; and Chacha 1 will duel Hopwood 1. On the South Court, the pairings are the following: SIS vs Mt. Carmel 2; Chacha 2 vs GCA; Dandan 1 vs Tanapag; Dandan 1 vs Chacha 2; GCA vs Mt. Carmel 2; and SIS vs Hopwood 2.
