Reps. Leila Staffler (D-Saipan) and Richard Lizama (D-Saipan) thanked everyone who made the recent Precinct 5 Hoops and Vibes Basketball Tournament under the lights at the Kagman Community Center hardcourt a success.

“Thanks in large part to our volunteers and sponsors, eight teams of players, and countless spectators who enjoyed the Precinct 5 Hoops and Vibes Basketball Tournament, we would like to express our gratitude for the generous contributions from Kagman Brothers Market, Bolis Kagman Marianas, Fast Food, Inc., Roil Soil, All-Star Sporting Goods, PHI Pharmacy, McDonald’s Saipan & Guam, Ming Yang Supermarket, MARPAC, Joeten Enterprises, CYC, and Twins Market

Last May 21, K-2 Ballers protected homecourt by winning the Precinct 5 Hoops and Vibes Basketball Tournament at the expense of Young Doom, 55-37.

The boys of coach Tom Pangelinan only needed to win Game 1 to annex the championship outright after going undefeated the entire tournament.

K-2 Ballers advanced to the finals following a 45-40 escape of Homies, while Young Doom booked its championship berth following a 37-33 nipping of Utu Bangers.

In the awards ceremony immediately following the finals, Garret Mariano was adjudged the finals MVP and best scorer of the tourney, while teammate Kaipo Dikito was named the top 3-point marksman.

The co-ed youth basketball tournament started with eight teams and featured boys and girls between 14 and 18 years old in full-court 5-v-5 action.
