Michael Jordan, vice president of Humanitarian Services, Pacific Division, of the American Red Cross along with Coralie Chun Matayoshi, Esq., CEO, and Jennifer L. Dotson, chief development officer of the Hawaii Red Cross Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to acting governor Victor B. Hocog.
The visit was part of the delegation’s mission to follow up on areas that recently experienced disasters that the ARC played a major role in the recovery efforts. “I am impressed by the resiliency of your people,” said Matayoshi expressing her sentiments to Hocog of the community’s efforts in recovering from the devastation of Typhoon Soudelor.
“Our fundraising efforts and donations from generous benefactors are really the driving force that helped the NMI Chapter provide the services after the typhoon. We will continue to provide those types of assistance because of such support,” added John Hirsch, executive director for the Red Cross NMI Chapter.
Hocog expressed the CNMI’s appreciation to Jordan and the team for their visit and the level of support from the ARC.
“Thank you very much. During our time of need, the local chapter along with the support from the off-island ARC members gave us hope that we were not alone. It would have been a more difficult recovery had ARC was not there with us. Thank you for this visit and thank you for the support,” he said.
