A low-budget airline company now offers low cost flights to and from Hong Kong.
HK Express Airways made its inaugural flight to Saipan yesterday and promised to provide discounts every week.
HK Express Airways flies to 26 different destinations across Asia and is based in Hong Kong.
HK Express general manager Sherman Luk said their entry to Saipan signifies “the beginning of a new area of new low fares, of incremental traffic between Saipan and Hong Kong.”
In a press conference later that day, Luk said that within the short span of three years, their airlines has carried 6 million passengers to their network of 26 destinations.
Luk said he was excited with Saipan, seeing as the inaugural flight at 4am yesterday morning was nearly full.
“I can assure you that [this flight] is not an exception because our year-round load factors are always over 90 percent full,” said Luk. HK Express is “at least 50 percent cheaper than our competitors serving Saipan today.”
Luk said HK Express offers lower costs so that tourists may enjoy the destination more with the money they save with the fare.
“We believe that by offering lower fares, we allow both the Saipan public and the people of Hong Kong and China to travel more frequently, bring their families along, and to spend more money on the ground destinations, benefitting the economies we serve,” he said.
Acting governor Arnold Palacios looks forward to HK Express’ continued flights to the CNMI.
“We would do everything we can and I am very confident that Marianas Visitors Authority, Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, and all the other tour agencies and tour partners will do everything we can to make sure our visitors that you bring have a great experience in the CNMI,” said Palacios.
Luk said HK Express has weekly sales, which makes Hong Kong a “perfect weekend getaway.”
In commemoration of the new destination, HK Express would be offering an introductory sale for one-way flights to Hong Kong at a price of $76. The same prices would apply for trips going back to Saipan, totaling $152 for a roundtrip ticket to Hong Kong. The promo ends at Feb. 17 and is available for travels only up to July 2017.
