Hindu community asks for support

CNMI Hindu Community Inc. is asking for any assistance in rebuilding their community center and temple that was damaged last year by Typhoon Soudelor. Their facilities are located in Chalan Kanoa next to the former Sister Remedios School.

CNMI Hindu Community treasurer Anand Rajanna Katta said the said structure had no roof after it was blown away by Soudelor’s strong winds.

“We are currently rebuilding with donations and volunteer services offered by our members, friends, and other community members,” said Katta, who added that they are accepting cash or construction material donations.

Metal pipes, wood, plywood, cement, rebar, floor, and tiles are some of the construction materials that they need.

“[These are] the materials we can use to rebuild our community center and temple. Any dollar amount that you will give will help us. We will be forever be grateful from the bottom of our hearts,” said Katta, who added that they are registered as a non-profit organization.

“We are involved to provide a forum for cultural and spiritual development activities as part of the CNMI community and the residents of Saipan,” Katta said.

He said until now the Hindu community could not host any of their events for the past year. “We appreciate your kind gesture and support as we attempt to rebuild out facility. We were unable to conduct any functions at the facility since last year.”
