Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Homeland Security And Emergency Management, a large north-northeast swell is diminishing but a secondary long-period northeast swell generated by another strong low pressure system over the North Pacific will arrive on Friday and cause hazardous surf through early Sunday afternoon.

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 4pm Sunday.

Surf on north facing reefs may briefly fall below hazardous levels as a north-northeast swell diminishes. However, a long-period northeast swell will increase today, Friday, ausing hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs to continue through early Sunday afternoon. Surf is then expected to fall below hazardous levels Sunday evening.

The public is being urged to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those along north facing reefs as rip currents will be life threatening. (HSEM)
