Ogumoro’s floor amendment appropriated $100,000 for the NMD Corp. for its “operations and functions.” Whoa! That’s public money. You need some priorities, folks. You have NMD guys in Susupe that need light bulbs in their basketball court lights. Some villages need hoops and lights. School is out in a day or so and you will have 11,000 kids that need things to do. Give most of that money to NMTI to teach young people how to fix Weed Whackers and outboard motors, show them what to expect if they get a job in a major hotel, teach them how to make a webpage so that CNMI departments won’t have to pay thousands of dollars getting them made. It’s baffling why everyone at government departments are so Internet illiterate. Any Hopwood or high school student can do it. There are 387,000 sites that show you how to do it, for free. You can also save a million or two a year by using Google+, Skype, GoToMeeting, or one of the other 160,000 free sites on the Web, and eliminate most of the travel expenses every year. Below is a photo I took last night of some young NMD people at the Susupe basketball court. Can’t see much? Neither could they.
