So far, the race has five supporters in title sponsors T Galleria and Pacific Trading, Co., platinum sponsors Mariana Resort & Spa, Triple J Wholesale/Hertz/Triple J Enterprises, and co-presenting sponsor Marianas Visitors Authority.
“With a little more than two months until race day, the event still needs additional sponsorship to cover prizes/raffles and volunteers including course marshals, aid station volunteers, and drivers for support vehicles,” said race director Dino Manning in a press statement forwarded to Saipan Tribune.
This year’s contest is offering $5,000 (total) with the big chunk of the cash prize going to the Top 3 finishers in the men’s and women’s pro road bike divisions. Riders from Japan, Korea, Russia, and Guam are expected to battle for the total pot, while a few local riders are likely to join the race, which has been stretched from 100 kilometers to 102.
“We’ll have a revised race course which is actually longer than previous years at 102km. This year’s race course is newly redesigned to emphasize the beauty of our island. Starting and finishing at the scenic Mariana Resort & Spa, participants can take pleasure in the natural splendor of the jungles, sea and cliff lines,” Manning said.
Besides the cash prizes for the top finishers, organizers will also be handing out prizes to the person who will come at the race with a costume, the rider who can guess his time right, and the fastest corporate team (composed of four riders). Additionally, MVA and NMICF will give prizes to riders who are the fastest to reach the event’s hot spots, which will be spread around the course.
Meanwhile, aside from the corporate relay division, this year’s Hell of Marianas will still have the two-person, three-person, and four-person team categories.
Registration is ongoing with entry forms available at the event’s website www.hell-of-the-marianas.com. Registration fee is only $60 per person (individual or team) and deadline for registration is set for Nov. 28. Registration fee after Nov. 28 is $85. Online registration will be offered, soon.
