Sean Frink, a lawyer from the Marianas Legal Strategy group, will be appointed as the hearing officer who will look into an alleged inappropriate conduct by Saipan Southern High School vice principal Eric San Nicolas, according to Public School System legal counsel Tiberius Mocanu.

He said Board of Education chair Herman Guerrero made the decision on who to appoint.

Frink’s practice concentrates on commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on trial practice. He has been actively litigating cases in the CNMI for almost 20 years now.

San Nicolas was sent on administrative leave with pay on Sept. 29. He is being investigated for questionable behavior while vice principal of Tinian Jr. Sr. High School.

“We are doing our best to see if his conduct rose to the level of termination,” Mocanu said in an earlier interview.

A former student of San Nicolas at TJSHS earlier said the investigation may have to do with an affair San Nicolas had with a student at the school. The girl involved was reportedly 19 years old at the time.
