HAGÅTÑA, Guam—The U.S. Department of the Navy has awarded Hawaiian Rock Products Corp. an additional $9,828,942 to repair the Northwest Field North Runway Landing Zone at Andersen Air Force Base.

Repairs are necessary to provide a reliable surface necessary to support large military aircraft, such as the C-17.

Funding for this project was supported by Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-Guam) and authorized through the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018.

This announcement adds to a previous award of $6,224,768 to bring the project total to $16,053,710. Repairs are expected to be completed in July 2019.

“This project will…allow the Air Force to continue positioning military assets on Guam that keep our island safe and support operations in the Asia-Pacific region. …I am pleased the Air Force is utilizing local expertise and helping to support our local economy,” said Bordallo. (PR)
