The Marianas Visitors Authority now has its own song and music video that showcases the breathtaking views and adventure-driven activities in the island as well as promotes tourism in the CNMI.

According to MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman, the whole production of the song and music video entitled “Happy Marianas” has been in the works for more than 12 months.

“It has been in the planning, writing, and artistic production phase for over a year,” Bateman said.

The objective of the music video is to promote the Northern Marianas Islands as a “happy, safe, and idyllic destination.”

The current production lyrics are in Japanese but the song’s main message can be summarized as enticing listening to “be happy on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota and come to the CNMI and have fun as residents and tourists from all walks of life do in the video,” according to Bateman.

Bateman said the song will be reproduced in other languages.

“MVA has acquired the full intellectual property rights to the original music and the video. MVA will likely reproduce this in other languages and will likely also show it, or portions of it, with just the music soundtrack and no voice-over. Parts of the video will likely be used in shorter advertising media and other formats,” Bateman said.

Bateman said this kind of visual depiction is a “very important part of modern advertising and destination marketing activities.”

“It will be used in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Russia at a minimum and perhaps elsewhere,” he added, “It will also be shown at trade shows and destination seminars in our offshore source countries.”

The project was funded by MVA which was a result of research and recommendations made by the Japan ad hoc committee made up of key local stakeholders in the tourism business and with the assistance of their Japan and headquarters office staff.
