Happy Hearts 5K Fun Run on March 18

Run Saipan and CHCC’s Sunshine Squad’s Inaugural Happy Hearts 5K Fun Run will be held this Friday, March 18. (MARK RABAGO)
Run Saipan is teaming with the Sunshine Squad of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. to hold the Inaugural Happy Hearts 5K Fun Run this Friday, March 18.
The fun run will start at 5:30pm from the Garapan Fishing Base were participants will head south to just past the Japanese Tank Memorial along Quartermaster Road and back, according to Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz Jr.
“We are expecting a strong amount to show up. The hospital personnel, first responders, as well our regular running community. The first 50 registrants get a Run Saipan-designed Happy Hearts 5K Fun Run Dri-Fit T-shirt as well as free refreshments,” he said.
Dela Cruz added that the Top 3 make and female runners will get surprise gifts. “They have to win it to see what they will get,” he said.
The Run Saipan official extended his gratitude to the Sunshine Squad after the non-profit group donated $1,500 last February to the running club.
“Run Saipan is ecstatic to be partnering with the Sunshine Squad to promote cardiovascular health for the community. That is always our No. 1 goal and invite the entire community to join us on that day. We are always happy to partner with any organization—private business or government—to raise cardiovascular health anytime. All they need to do is call us,” said Dela Cruz.
