The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands reported 90.13 percent occupancy among 11 member hotels for November 2016, a 2-percent Increase compared to November 2015.

A total of 62,688 of 69,541 available room nights sold in November 2016, compared to 60,830 of 69,090 available room nights sold over the same period last year. Average room rates were $124.69 during the month, compared to $122.25 last November.

“As expected, we see that the two-month trend has almost corrected itself,” said HANMI chair Gloria Cavanagh. “As of this time last year after Typhoon Soudelor, most emergency personnel had left the island and utilities had been restored. We are now seeing a correct reflection of an increased tourism market.”

So far this calendar year, the average occupancy rate is 87.02 percent, while the average room rate is $139.39.

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands was established in 1985 as a professional forum for the hospitality industry of the NMI. HANMI also makes regular charitable donations to support non-profit organizations and tourism-related government projects.

Membership in HANMI is open to all qualified hotels, motels, guest houses and other lodging entities for tourists, as well as affiliated businesses. Application for 2017 membership are now being accepted. For more information or to request a membership application, visit www.saipanhotels.org. (HANMI)
