One of the most highly anticipated annual golf tournaments in the Northern Mariana Islands is set to tee-off on June 7, as the 13th Annual HANMI Charity Golf Classic Tournament prepares to offer golfers the chance to win enticing prizes while supporting a good cause.
This year’s tournament will be held at Mariana Country Club and will be open to the first 144 paid registrants. Cash and numerous in-kind prizes await the winners, and proceeds of the tournament will be contributed to community charities.

“We encourage all golfers to mark their calendars for the 13th HANMI Charity Golf Classic Tournament,” said tournament chair Steve Balakrishna. “This year, we hope to make it the most memorable tournament, yet.”

Registration forms will be available shortly. Early bird tournament fee is $105 for payments received by 5pm, June 5. The fee includes green fee and the awards banquet. The fee increases to $125 after the early bird deadline. For an additional $25, players may also compete for nearest to the pin, most accurate drive, and longest drive. The tournament will start at 7am.

The tournament features six categories: Championship Flight, A Flight, B Flight, C Flight, Seniors, and Ladies. Players in the Championship Flight must have 0-6 handicaps, while those in A Flight are 7- 11 handicappers. The B Flight is for players with 12-17 handicap, while C Flight are for players with handicap 18 and up. Senior category is for ages 55 and up.

First place winners of all flights will receive $300, a trophy, and a hotel stay at one of the HANMI member hotels. Second place finishers will receive $200, a trophy, and dinner gift certificate at one of the HANMI member hotel, and third place winners will receive $100, a trophy, and lunch gift certificate at one of the HANMI member hotel. Winners for the female category will be determined using the Double Peoria handicap system. (PR)
