Habitual offender wanted anew
Muna
The Department of Public Safety is on the hunt for habitual offender Patrick Hernandez Muña for alleged theft.
Last Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Theresa Kim-Tenorio issued an arrest warrant for Muna, 22, with bail set at $25,000.
DPS is asking for the community’s help in locating Muña, who is presumed armed with a handgun and ammunition that he stole from a home on Feb. 4.
Last Tuesday, DPS received a 911 call reporting a theft of a weapon and ammunition from a private residence. The caller stated that a handgun and ammunition were amongst other items taken from their home.
On Wednesday, at about 3:49am, police who were conducting routine patrol in Lower Mihaville saw a vehicle with no front license plates and no rear license plate lights. As officers activated their emergency lights, the vehicle took off along Chalan Pale Arnold Road and headed south and continued to drive recklessly in an attempt to lose the officers before crashing into a retaining wall near the Aging Center in Chinatown.
The suspect, later identified as Muña, got off the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers lost him in the chase.
Within the vehicle, police found an empty box of 20 count, .40 caliber ammunition, and single .40 caliber ammunition between the driver’s seat and the driver’s side door.
Officers also noticed a branch of a green leafy plant that was later positively identified as marijuana and multiple small ziplock bags containing a clear crystal-like substance. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.
A follow-up interview with the victims of the burglary confirmed that the ammunition and the other contents found inside the car were items stolen from their home.
Back in 2015, Muña was arrested for multiple thefts in business establishments and private home after Super Typhoon Soudelor.
Muña was also arrested for the theft of a Federal Emergency Management Agency-owned generator that was used to power water in Chalan Kanoa.
If Muña is spotted, police are advising individuals not to approach him and to dial 911 immediately as he is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you wish to remain anonymous, call the CNMI Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272.
