Habitual offender gets 8 yrs. in prison for gas station robbery
Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio handed down yesterday an eight-year prison term against Christopher M. Igisomar, a habitual offender who, together with an accomplice, robbed the Mobil gas station in Chalan Piao.
Igisomar, 32, pleaded guilty to robbery as part of a plea deal. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as his counsel.
Kim-Tenorio sentenced Igisomar to 10 years in prison, all suspended except for eight years, to be served without the possibility of parole.
Once he finishes his sentence, Igisomar will be placed on three years of probation. He was also required to perform 300 hours of community service, pay a $500 fine, plus court costs and probation fees.
Kim-Tenorio ordered Igisomar to pay full restitution to the cashier and the Mobil gas station in Chalan Piao in an amount to be determined later.
If the court later imposes restitution, Igisomar and co-defendant Joseph C. San Nicolas will be held jointly for the restitution.
The remaining charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, theft, and disturbing the peace were dropped.
Igisomar and San Nicolas robbed the Mobil gas station in Chalan Piao on Feb. 8, 2014. Igisomar threatened the female cashier with a machete and demanded that she give him the money in the cash register.
San Nicolas held a rock to the gas attendant’s neck. The two defendants then stole the cashier’s purse and cash from the cash register.
San Nicolas confessed to police that he and Igisomar plotted to rob the gas station. He pleaded guilty and he will be sentenced on Oct. 17, 2014. He is facing another criminal case.
Last month, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho revoked Igisomar’s probation and imposed the rest of his original sentence—four years in prison—because of the filing of charges over the gas station robbery.
