Lucas T. Manglona, a 38-year-old habitual offender, was arrested again on Monday, this time for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing a purse near a church in San Vicente.

At a hearing yesterday, noting Manglona’s criminal history, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio increased to $20,000 cash bail from the $10,000 cash bail that the court earlier imposed.

Manglona allegedly broke into a house located behind Jesus Is Lord Church and stole a woman’s purse containing a driver’s license, a bank Mastercard, two Social Security cards, four hospital cards, a Samsung cell phone, and $70 cash.

Police detective Myron O. Laniyo stated in his report that a police officer was dispatched to San Vicente on Sunday at 6:20pm after Manglona allegedly stole a purse from a woman.

Laniyo said investigation showed that while the woman, her husband, and their child were getting ready to go to church located in the same compound, Manglona came to their house and offered to sell tires.

The husband told Manglona he does not want to buy tires. The family then left on their way to the nearby church.

While at church, the couple’s 13-year-old daughter went back to their house because she was thirsty. The girl came back and told her parents that Manglona was at their house again.

The girl’s mother checked outside and saw Manglona coming out from their house and holding her purse.

The victim shouted at Manglona to return her purse, but he ran away.
