Gunshot rumors erupt over weekend
The police sent lawmen to Dandan and its environs on Saturday night after receiving a call that gunshots were heard coming from a car in the area.
Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Jason Tarkong said police did investigate a call about gunshots in Dandan but no one confirmed the active shooter incident.
Tarkong said there were reports about possibly the sound of someone shooting a gun in Dandan.
He said police checked the area but there was no sight of a shooter.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services posted in its Facebook page that preliminary information from DPS is that a white four-door sedan sped away and that gunshots were heard from the direction of the fleeing car in Dandan.
DFEMS said no injuries were reported and that no actual eyewitnesses were identified.
Police were then patrolling in Dandan and its vicinity to ascertain what’s going on.
DFEMS urged anyone who has more information about the incident to call DPS.
Employees at several stores in Dandan and San Vicente were alarmed about the alleged shooting as some customers informed them about the reports.
A lot of people talked about the shooting incident on social media.
It was not the first time that Saipan Tribune heard about this type of rumor as an alleged shooting incident in Dandan and San Vicente also circulated on social media a few months ago.
