Gerald Guerrero and Calvin Yamagishi ruled the Marianas Golf Association combined May-June Aces of the Month, held last Sunday at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s east course.

Guerrero and Yamagishi ended up tied with two others for the top ranking, but had a 1-2 finish after the count-back. The former clinched the May Ace by half a stroke over the latter, which earned the June monthly award.

MGA held a two-for-one May-June combined monthly ace for July after missing a number of months due to a number of local tournaments—Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, Northern Marianas College Foundation, and Tournament of Champions—held earlier in the year.

David Largent and J.J. Atalig were the other two golfers who tied Guerrero and Yamagishi, but ended up third and fourth, respectively.

Yamagishi led the closest to the pin winners in No. 6, while Peter Tenorio duplicated his feat in No. 11. Largent conquered No. 15.

A total of 13 MGA members played in perfect weather conditions in the morning and then braved the afternoon showers for the one-day tournament.

MGA will again hold a combined Monthly Ace for July and August on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 10am at Kingfisher Golflinks in Talofofo.

Atalig was the April Ace with James Benavente and Guerrero placing second and third. Jessica Sonoda is the March Ace with Atalig and Harry Nakamura at 2-3, while Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, Marco Peter, and Largent were the Top 3 for February with the former earning the Monthly title.

Atalig (president), Largent (vice president), Gerilyn Dela Cruz (secretary), Benavente (treasurer), Yamagishi (tournament director), and Jay Muna (handicap coordinator) are the MGA officers for this year.
