Guerrero is Amigos October Ace
Terry Guerrero earned the Amigos Golf Club’s October Ace of the Month after the group’s tournament held last Oct. 18 at the Marianas Country Club.
Guerrero tallied a 4-under 140 after scores in the qualifying round—held on Oct. 4 also at MCC—and October Ace, which were both played at the par-72 Marpi golf course, were combined.
Guerrero had a gross score of 90 in the qualifying but the 23-handicapper ended up with a 5-under 67. He shot at a 96 in the Ace of the Month for a 1-over 73 giving him that 140 overall.
Frank Ermitanio and Joe Sablan Jr. were eight shots back as they both ended with 148s but the former clinched runner-up honors after shooting a 2-under 70 in the qualifying round.
Ermitanio shot a 4-over 78 in the Ace of the Month for that 148, while Sablan Jr. fired a pair of 2-over 74s to tie the former.
Sherlyn Jones came in fourth with a 149 as the 13-handicapper fired a 1-under 71 in the qualifying round but finished with a 4-over 78 in the October Ace.
John Guerrero, with an 11 handicap, also had a 149 behind an even par 72 and a 5-over 77.
Dung Tenorio came in sixth scoring 150 (72-78), Joe Tudela was seventh also with a 150 (72-77), Ben Jones at eighth with 154 (73-81), Diding Hocog ninth after a 155 (68-77), and Dr. Larry Hocog 10th following a 161 (79-82).
Felix Sasamoto only played in the qualifying round with a 97, while Ben Jones Jr. only joined the October Ace and finished with an even par 72. Sasamoto had a 10 handicap, while Jones Jr. had 10.
The Amigos held their November qualifying round last Oct. 28 at the Coral Ocean Golf Resort and results were not yet available at press time. The November Ace is set on Sunday, Nov. 8, also at Coral Ocean.
Play will then shift to MCC on Nov. 15 for the December qualifying with the December Ace scheduled on Nov. 22.
The Amigos Ace of Aces yearend tournament will be held on Dec. 5 and 6 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
