Gualo Rai still unscathed in boys 18

Gualo Rai won its fifth straight game in the boys 18 division of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League last Dec. 18 at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Center.

Lucio Aldan scored 15 points, Elijah Garcia added 13, and Craig Padayao submitted 11 in Gualo Rai’s 70-56 victory over Navy Hill in the last game before the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation-organized league went on Christmas break.

Gualo Rai left the conclusion of the game beyond doubt after racing to a 33-20 at the half and then coasted to victory, while giving the third loss in five matches for Navy Hill, which was led by the 24 markers of Nyrel Eugenio.

In the boys 13 match earlier, Finasisu raised its  record to 3-4 after beating Garapan, 56-47. Leon Duenas paced the winners with 18 points, while Garapan, which lost its seventh game in seven tries, was led by the 32 points of Noah Deleon Guerrero.

Kagman, meanwhile, nipped San Antonio, 39-45, in the women’s division to improve to 4-2. They were led by the 24 of Kaia Travilla, while the now 1-6 San Antonio got 21 points from promising Azriel Fatialofa.
