Peter Sablan went perfect at the plate and pitched a one-hit game to lead the GSM Masters to a 13-3 crushing of the Papa Bears in last Friday night’s game in the Masters division of the Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

Sablan went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs and gave up only one hit to the Bears in his four innings on the mound. He only allowed one run, unearned, with no walks, and struck out five batters.

Mark Flores went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Gacery Igisomar scored a run and had two RBIs and a double off a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

Glen Camacho was the lone bright spot for the Bears, going 2-for-3 and scoring an RBI, while making two of their three runs. Carlos Camacho, 1-for-3, was credited with the Bears’ other run.

The GSM Masters scored six times in the fifth to pull away and Tony Flores sealed the win in relief despite giving up two runs at the bottom of the inning.

It was GSM’s sixth win in 11 games as it remains in second place behind the undefeated Boleros (10-0). The IPI Masters are in third spot with a 5-4 card, while the Bears dropped to fourth with their 2-8 mark, the same record Saisei has.

Boleros 28, Saisei 23
The Boleros kept their unbeaten run intact with a victory in a high-scoring game over last year’s finalist Saisei last Wednesday.

The league leaders had to rally back as they trailed for the most part of the game. The Boleros were down, 14-16, but a pair of seven-run innings sealed their 10th straight win, while Saisei dropped its eighth match in 10 games.

Dave Kapileo had two doubles, scored five times, and hit an RBI after going 4-for-7, while James Fleming went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Mario Sablan hit 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs, while Mike Guerrero was perfect, 3-for-3, with three runs to go with two RBIs and a double.

The loss put to waste Mabel Ngirngemelas’ 3-for-3 performance at the plate, his two runs, four RBIs, and a double. Hector Efraim went 2-for-4 with five runs, two RBIs, and a double, while Lefty Shiro was 3-for-5 and scored four runs and an RBI.

Reyes pitched six innings and limited the Falcons to three hits while giving up one run with two walks and two strikeouts. Lieto, on the other hand, lasted four innings and was tagged with four runs on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Nathan Camacho went 3-for-3 for the Pirates with one run, while Reyes, T.J. Dela Cruz, and Lorenzo Sebaklim also scored for the winning team.

In other results in the U25 division, the Falcons won by forfeit against the Pirates, but suffered a 6-2 loss to the GSM Cubs.
