Tomorrow, Nov. 8, 2014, the US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter (CNMI and Guam) and the Global Filipino Diaspora Marianas, in collaboration with the National Federation of Filipino American Associations Marianas chapter, will be commemorating the first anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan/ Yolanda at the Filcom Pavilion in Susupe, near the Sabalu Market, from 9am to 12pm.

According to Dr. Celia Lamkin, chairperson of USP4GG Marianas chapter and founding chairperson of GFDM, Saturday’s activities include registration of Filipinos who need certification from TESDA or have potentials that can be certified by TESDA; a program consisting of prayers and inspirational messages from speakers, testimonies of families who were affected by Typhoon Haiyan; and a sharing of insights on the Temporary Protected Status for the Philippines in relation to Typhoon Haiyan and how TPS can help Filipinos and the Philippines.

There will also be a commemorative Mass at 6pm in San Jose Church at San Jose, Saipan, to be officiated by Rev. Father Rey Rosal.

During the launching of the Global Filipino Diaspora Marianas on Sept. 28, 2014, Lamkin mentioned about her vision and goal for all Filipinos in the CNMI and Guam to be certified by TESDA.

As a result of her initiative and tireless efforts, TESDA Undersecretary Teodoro Pascua has requested Lamkin for data on how many Filipinos in the CNMI and Guam need to be certified to justify the need of assessment and certification of overseas Filipino workers, hence the initiative of US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter to do this registration drive.

Filipinos are advised to look for Jess Yumul, an active member of the USP4GG Marianas chapter, during the registration for TESDA certification at the Filcom Pavilion on Saturday from 9am to 10:30am, prior to the program of the first anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan, added Lamkin.

Members of the CNMI community are invited to attend the Haiyan commemoration regardless of ethnicity, religion, citizenship and nationality.
