Group led by ex-Dynasty chair eyes $75M hotel in San Roque
A group of investors is planning to build a $75-million, nine-storey hotel complete with pools, restaurants, shops, and staff housing units directly south of the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School.
Tom Liu of Globe International Group serves as the contact person in the application but was off-the island when Saipan Tribune tried to contact him.
Michael Kwan, former chairman of the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, serves as property owner. Liu is also a former general manager of Tinian Dynasty.
Global International Group has already filed for a conditional use application that is set for discussion during the Dec. 1 board meeting at the Commonwealth Zoning Office in Dandan.
The hotel, which has yet to be named, will straddle four lots with a total area of 41,990 square meters. The new hotel is planned to have 438 rooms, 15 villas that include 82 apartments, and 201 car parking spaces.
The property’s boundaries include the lagoon to the west side of the site and Route 30, which is to the site’s east. Two lots out of four have structures in them, with a total of five houses within the lots.
Zoning board chair Diego C. Blanco would be holding a public hearing on Global International Group’s request for a conditional use permit on Dec. 1, 2016, at the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, San Roque.
