Greg Sablan Jr. is SGA’s October Ace
Greg M. Sablan Jr. earned a spot in the Saipan Golfers Association’s yearend tournament after ruling the October Ace held last Sunday at the Mariana Country Club.
Sablan had a gross score of 14-over 86 at the par-72 layout of the Marpi golf facility. He had rounds of 42 and 44, and with a 20 handicap finished with a 66.
He now joins other SGA monthly winners Ed Manibusan (January), John “Nanni” Cruz (February), Larry Deleon Guerrero (March), 2013 Ace of Aces winner Jung Eun Teack (April), Alex Tudela (May), Juan Lizama (June), Jess Castro (July), Nick Sablan (August), and Frances Sablan (September).
Tudela and Nick Sablan ended up tied for second behind Greg M. Sablan Jr. with a net score of 73.
Tudela secured second place beating Nick Sablan after three holes by way of the scorecard tiebreak method.
He scored rounds of 40 and 41 for an 81 gross, and with an eight handicap gave him that 73, while Nick Sablan, who has a five handicap, scored a 41 at the front and 37 at the back to equal the former’s feat.
Juan Pan Guerrero and Tony Deleon Guerrero were the longest drive winners in Nos. 2 and 11.
Deleon Guerrero also led the golfers that shot closest to the pin in No. 6, while Tudela achieved the feat twice in holes No. 8 and 16.
SGA members are again reminded of the November Ace of the Month set this Sunday, Nov. 15, at the east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Show time is at 9am, while tee off starts after one hour in the monthly golf tournament, which will also be group’s annual Turkey Shoot.
