The conclusion of school year 2013-2014 at Green Meadow School was celebrated on May 17, 2014, with the holding of the annual Recognition Day in the morning and graduation ceremonies in the afternoon.

During the Recognition program, students who made a mark during the school year were lauded onstage and rewarded with trophies, medals, or certificates of recognition.

Among the special guests who congratulated the students for their noteworthy accomplishments and achievements was the guest speaker, Escolastica Igitol Taitano Iguel, whose inspiring speech revolved around two of the most notable quotations on education: “Education is the kindling of a flame, not filling of a vessel” by Socrates and “The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one” by Malcom Forber. Part of Iguel’s remark explained to the audience that education that treats students “as if they are empty-headed vessels devoid of ideas would have difficulty recognizing that each student is already filled with ideas that only require the right spark to converse their curiosity to learn or conflagration of opportunity to learn more and more ideas.”

Awards and special recognitions were presented for both academics and extra-curricular activities which included A and B Honor, Citizenship Award, Leadership Award, Perfect Attendance,  Best in Academics, and Most Outstanding Student. Successful participants in forensic competitions, STEM, Mathcourt, Academic Bee, spelling bee and other competitions were also presented with awards. The school management and staff congratulate all the students for their hard work and outstanding accomplishments during school year 2013-2014. (GMS)
