The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs continues to accept fiscal year 2021 grant applications for the Technical Assistance Program, the Maintenance Assistance Program, and the Coral Reef and Natural Resources Initiative through April 1, 2021.

“OIA will accept applications for the TAP, MAP, and Coral Reef and Natural Resources discretionary grant programs through April 1,” said OIA director and acting assistant secretary of Insular and International Affairs Nikolao Pula. “We encourage all insular area governments and non-profit organizations who serve the insular areas and their populations to submit funding requests for consideration.”

Applications for fiscal year 2021 TAP, MAP, and CRNR funding may be submitted by insular government entities, educational institutions, or nonprofit organizations whose grant proposals are in accordance with 2 CFR 200 and will directly benefit the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the CNMI, and the U.S. Virgin Islands or the freely associated states, which are the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau.

Limited funding of $9.8 million remains available to be awarded through Sept. 30, 2021, under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, Public Law 116-136, for insular area governments and nonprofit organizations to prepare for, prevent, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any questions should be sent to OIA TAP director Charlene Leizear at Charlene_Leizear@ios.doi.gov.

Complete instructions on how to apply for these discretionary financial assistance programs as provided through the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs may be found at: www.grants.gov (search for CFDA number 15.875). (PR)
