Worship leader Alain Nuñez led some 25 members young and old on this community outreach.

Nuñez said in a phone interview that Tuesday’s visit to the elderly also involved him sharing the message of Christmas and meaningful Biblical scriptures.

The scriptures Nuñez shared were Isaiah 9:6, which talks about the birth of a child who “shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,” and John 3:16, which talks about God’s love for the world “that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

According to Nuñez, visits to the man’amko are usually led by the Grace Christian Academy but this time the ministry spearheaded the activity.

Nuñez said they gave each of the senior citizens Christian mugs, bookmarks, and cookies.

“The visit was very enlightening,” Nuñez told Saipan Tribune. “We were very excited and felt accomplished to share the Gospel of God and sing Christmas carols to the man’amko.”

Aging program coordinator Walter Manglona said they appreciate the Ministry of Grace Christian Assembly for spending time with the man’amko.

Manglona believes that Christmas is not just about gift giving. “It’s about being remembered. Ultimately, the reason for the season is Jesus. It’s the day He was born so there’s so much more to it. It’s a special reminder that God loves us all.”

According to Manglona, visits to the center send a positive message to the island’s elderly. “We know times are tough for everybody and so we need this positive message now more than ever,” he added.
