Govt releases list of legal holidays

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres released a list of legal holidays for 2017.

There are six legal holidays left for the year with a long weekend this Friday for the Nov. 4 Citizenship Day. Next week’s general election, Nov. 8, is also a legal holiday to allow employees to vote.

Nov. 11 (Veteran’s Day), Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving), Dec. 8 (Constitution Day), and Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) are the remaining holidays for 2016.

He also released the list of legal holidays for 2017 starting with New Year’s Day on Jan. 1 followed by the Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 16. President’s Day is on Feb. 20, while March 24 is Commonwealth Covenant Day.

Good Friday will be on April 14, with Memorial Day on May 29 and July 4 is Independence Day. Sept. 4 is Labor Day and the Commonwealth Cultural Day on Oct. 9.

Nov. 4, 11, and 23, are Citizenship Day, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving, respectively. Dec. 8 is the commemoration of Constitution Day and Christmas on Dec. 25.
