GOP confident Inos will do well in forum

When he does arrive and take part in the Saipan Chamber of Commerce’s Gubernatorial Forum tomorrow night, the CNMI Republic Party is confident that Gov. Eloy S. Inos will do well in the event.

GOP media coordinator Ivan Blanco said while there is still no knowing for sure when the governor will be back, he is pretty confident that if Inos takes part in the forum he will be able to more than stand his ground against other bets and articulate his position on issues presented.

Blanco said being the sitting governor; Inos will have a better grasp of the policies his administration has introduced compared to other candidates running for governor.

While he wouldn’t commit when exactly Inos will be flying home to resume his political campaign for the governorship of the CNMI, Blanco said the best scenario is for the governor to return a day before the forum, which is today, Wednesday.

“If he comes in early in the morning Thursday he will only have a few hours to prepare. That is a concern that we need to sit down with him. Our standpoint is, will he have enough rest? We just want to make sure he has enough rest because of the layover in Korea.”

He said Inos’ arrival will all depend on his daughters and doctors.

Chamber executive director Jill Arenovski, meanwhile, said that they have tentatively reset the Gubernatorial Forum tomorrow, Oct. 30, 6pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

She said her staff is currently working the phones lines to get confirmation from the respective campaign managers of Inos and other gubernatorial candidates Heinz S. Hofschneider, Juan N. Babauta, and Edward M. Deleon Guerrero about the new date of the forum.

The 2014 general elections will have Inos and his running mate, Senate President Ralph Torres, running under the CNMI Republic Party banner.

The GOP duo will be challenged by former governor Babauta and his running mate, former senator Juan Torres; former House speaker Hofschneider and his running mate, former Senate floor leader Ray N. Yumul; and former Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director Edward “Tofila” M. Deleon Guerrero and his running mate, former senator Daniel Quitugua.

Hofschneider and Yumul and Babauta and Torres tandems are running as independents, while Deleon Guerrero and Quitugua are running under the CNMI Democratic Party.
