GMS STUCO campaigns against bullying
To support the anti -bullying campaign in the month of October, Green Meadow School’s Student Council officers have prepared many ways to show how to prevent bullying.
The school’s STUCCO officers went to every classroom to show the many types of bullying and how to prevent them. The many types of bullying—physical, verbal and cyber-bullying—were shown through presentations and skits. The members of the STUCCO acted out various scenarios of the types of bullying, showing what bullying can do to a person mentally and physically.
The presentations showed many ways of how to stop bullying, such as reporting acts of bullying and showing support to the victim. They also posted flyers in each classroom, which depicted the severity of bullying. This is rampant around the world.
To bully—meaning seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce someone who is perceived as vulnerable—is damaging to a person’s mind and body. It could lead to bad thoughts about themselves and lower their self-esteem. These are the many reasons why we have a month for it, to support people who have been bullied or are being bullied.
The result of this campaign has greatly affected the students since there is less bullying on the campus. Multiple students have benefited from what the STUCCO had shown them.
“…The campaign is…a great way to spread awareness about the things that happen on school grounds,” said Nicole Acaba, a 7th grader in the school.
The younger students can now fully understand what bullying is, the types of bullying there is, and how to prevent it. Since the STUCCO also showed what bullying was visually, the students can see who is bullying and prevent it.
Bullying is a serious topic for schools around the world, and the GMS STUCO was glad to help other students understand it. The STUCO hopes that they educate many students about bullying. (PR)
