Girls middle school volleyball resumes today

The NMIVA-PSS Interscholastic Middle School Volleyball League 2021-2022 season resumes today with three games scheduled in the girls division, while the boys division starts back up again on Thursday with three matches also on tap.
Games this afternoon start at 5pm with Hopwood Middle School taking on Dandan Middle School in the north court of the Marianas High School. Playing simultaneously in the south court are Tanapag Middle School 1 and Hopwood 2. The 6pm game will them pit Mt. Carmel School 2 vs. Saipan International School 1.
The boys will take the court two days later with SIS 1 squaring off against Saipan Community School at 5pm at the north court. At the same time in the south court, DMS will challenge Hopwood 1. The lone 6pm tiff will feature Francisco M. Sablan Middle School taking on Hopwood 2.
In results last week, Grace Christian Academy swept DMS, 21-9, 21-15. TMS 1 also outlasted FMS, 17-21, 21-16, 15-10, while MCS brought down TMS 2, 21-18, 21-9.
Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association president Somia Quan, meanwhile, welcomed the return of interscholastic volleyball after many starts and restarts were stymied by the COVID-19 outbreak in the community.
“We are excited to begin the start of middle school volleyball after we had postponements due to COVID and the school Winter break. On behalf of NMIVA, we thank our athletes and coaches and athlete supporters for being patient with us. We wish the best of luck to every participant! We’d also like to thank our PSS counterpart for working diligently to get volleyball season up and running and to keep the balls flying!” she said.
