Get your plate in shape!
On Saturday, March 31, 2012, student chefs from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will compete in a cook-off that has been months in the making.
At 9 am, student chefs will serve their recipe to a panel of judges including food experts and health professionals.
The public is welcome to come and join us at PIC Ironwoods Lawn to taste the student creations as soon judging is complete.
Recipes must include local fruits and vegetables and have been verified to ensure that they are moderate in sodium, fat, and added sugar.
The event is sponsored by PSS Food and Nutrition Services and the National Nutrition Month Planning committee, including NMC CREES, Commonwealth Cancer Association, CNMI Division of Public Health, Pacific Wellness Center, Hardt Eye Clinic, CNMI WIC, and Marianas Health.
The Student Healthy Recipe Contest Cook-off is the final activity for National Nutrition Month. This year’s theme is “Get Your Plate in Shape,” which focuses on promoting USDA’s My Plate healthy eating plan, which replaced the USDA Food Guide Pyramid last year.
