Grace Christian Assembly will be hosting a “Raise a Hallelujah Night,” on Oct. 31 on Navy Hill, where they will still pass out candy but also minister to the community.

According to GCA pastor Michael Rodger, GCA will be doing a community drive-thru where 15 volunteers will be passing out pre-bagged bags of candy at their facility. GCA plans to have at least 500 pre-bagged candies (in a small Ziploc bags) that will be handed out to children.

The event will be from 5pm to 7pm or until all the candy bags are gone. Since the COVID-19 Task Force recommends that people should still follow social distancing rules for Halloween, Rodger said that the drive-thru is a better option because it promotes less face-to-face involvement.

“We wanted to bless the community and provide a safe environment for the kids, and that’s really the heart of it,” said Rodger.

He said when people are pulling up to the church for the drive-thru, they will have some people handling and directing the traffic. They will also have five to seven stations, so they can have five to seven cars at a time and have people ready to distribute candy and then help them as they go.

Rodger hopes that the event will have a good turnout. Individuals who are interested in donating candies for the event can contact the church at 322-3320.

GCA isn’t the only church hosting a drive-thru trick-or-treating event. The Jesus is Lord Saipan Church will also be hosting their annual “Holy-wen, Festival of Treats” at their church parking lot in San Vicente across the San Vicente Park. They will be starting at 5pm until supplies last.

JIL Saipan would like to remind participants to wear their masks. For anyone who would like to donate candies to the church, they can contact Donna Rivera at Saipan Tribune 235-2440.
