GCA remains undefeated in MISO v’ball

GCA’s varsity team scored an easy 25-10, 25-16, 15-6 win over MHS’ junior varsity squad last Thursday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium to nail its fourth win in as many games.
The Eagles hardly encountered any resistance from the Dolphins and built comfortable leads twice in the first and second sets. MHS players looked lost inside the court most of the time, helping GCA capitalize on every scoring opportunity.
The Eagles also defeated the junior varsity teams of Saipan Southern High School, 25-10, 25-8, 15-13, and Saipan International School, 25-15, 25-18, 15-8, and grinded out a tough win over Mt. Carmel School’s varsity squad, 25-13,23-25,15-12, in separate games the last two weeks to earn a streak in the 10-team league.
MHS’ varsity team is in second place with a 3-1 slate, as the Dolphins ended their three-game winning run last week after absorbing a 25-20, 20-25, 13-15 loss to Marianas Baptist Academy.
Before bowing to MBS, the Dolphins’ varsity team downed SIS junior varsity, 25-16, 25-22, 15-11; bested Kagman High School varisty, 25-23, 25-14, 15-10; and won over sister team MHS junior varsity, 25-20, 25-18, 18-16.
Kagman High School varsity holds an even 2-2 mark with the Ayuyus winning over MHS JV, 25-19, 25-21, 15-2, and the Knights’ varsity team, 25-15, 15-25, 15-7. Kagman dropped its games against SIS varsity, 13-25, 12-25, 15-17, and the MBA Stormz, 25-18, 25-21, 15-13.
In other results, SSHS varsity defeated its JV squad, 25-11, 30-29, 15-13, but lost to Mt. Carmel, 25-17, 25-12, 15-13, in separate games last week. The Manta Rays also dropped a 13-25, 25-21, 7-15 setback to the SIS JV Geckos then defeated MHS JV, 25-23, 22-25, 15-8. SIS’ varsity team pulled off consecutive hard-earned wins over MBA varsity, 25-22, 24-26, 15-10, and its JV squad, 25-16, 16-25, 15-12. (Jon Perez)
