Motorists were hit with yet another unexpected raise in gas prices. An increase of 13 cents was implemented early this week.

From $3.95, gas prices were raised to $4.08 per gallon of regular gas for all gasoline stations around the island.

Diesel prices increased from $4.30 per gallon to $4.45 per gallon.

The increase was implemented for all Mobil stations on Monday morning according to a Mobil station tenant and Shell followed shortly after.

According to Chaster Floresca, a full-time working college student, it is frustrating that gas prices have to increase because it is necessity for him to get to and from his job at the Hyatt Regency Saipan and from Northern Marianas College.

“Just don’t waste gas driving from place to place, driving around to places that is unnecessary, it’s not worth it,” he said.

According to previous articles on the Saipan Tribune, gas prices were $3.48 early 2016 and continued to increase until it reached $3.93 on December 2016. A decrease of 10 cents was seen on June of 2017 before it was increased by 10 cents again on October 2017.
