Gas prices up again, by 15 cents

Gasoline prices in the Commonwealth continue to rise, increasing by 15 cents as of Tuesday afternoon.

The price of regular gasoline at Mobil Oil Marianas increased to $4.059 per gallon, while diesel prices increased to $4.519.

The gasoline prices for Shell Marianas also increased to the same levels at $4.059 and $4.519 for regular gasoline and diesel respectively.

Last Feb. 12, Mobil’s regular gasoline was at $3.909, while the price per gallon for diesel was at $4.369. For Shell, regular gasoline was pegged at $3.91 a gallon, while diesel was pegged at $4.37 a gallon.

The two companies traditionally mirror their price movements.

According to www.fuelgaugereport.com, the average cost of regular gas in the U.S. mainland is $2.15 per gallon, while the national average is $2.30.

The average for diesel is at $2.865 a gallon.

The website also reported that the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline has increased for 28 consecutive days for a total of 27 cents per gallon, which is the longest streak of rising prices since last spring.
