A store near Mobil Middle Road was robbed last Friday, with the perpetrator taking off with three boxes of cigarettes worth more than $200.
According to 6JMS store owner and cashier Anelia Singson, she was completing a transaction with a customer around 7:57pm and was getting ready to attend to another customer wanting to buy two cigarette packs when the perpetrator came up to her and threatened to attack her, forcing her to give him three reams of cigarettes.
The cigarettes, a ream of Camel Silver and two reams of Pall Mall cigarettes, are worth more than $200. As soon as he got the cigarettes, he then fled on foot.
Shortly after, Singson called 911 and Department of Public Safety officers arrived at the scene. Posts on social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter started spreading information shared by Singson. She said there have been no leads in the case and that it is still under police investigation.
According to photos and video footage provided by Singson, the perpetrator was wearing a blue and white New York baseball cap with glasses, and a camouflage jacket. He is described to be about 5’7” to 5’9” in height and of medium build.
She said that this was the first time ever that the store had been robbed and she hopes that the community can help find the perpetrator.
Saipan Tribune has made separate inquiries with DPS about the robbery, but there has been no response as of press time. If you have any information about this robbery, call 911 or the CNMI Crime Stoppers at (670) 234-7272.
