Fundraiser seeks to help children
Shirts are being sold as part of an effort to raise funds to help children who were affected by Typhoon Soudelor.
“I came up with this idea about a week after the typhoon,” resident and volunteer Antonio R. Cabrera said.
He said he decided to sell shirts after hearing his neighbors’ concerns that schools are opening up and that they lost books, writing notebooks, and other school supplies to the typhoon.
Cabrera said he aims to sell 1,000 shirts to help about 600 kids and give them new school supplies to use for at least one semester.
He said he wants to identify those who lost their houses and help those who have children.
“The focus is the kids,” Cabrera added.
As of now, pre-orders are being made for the post-Typhoon Soudelor T-shirt fundraiser.
T-shirts (small, medium and large) cost $20 each while the extra large and double extra large are $22 each.
Cabrera seeks to target those from off-island who want to purchase the shirts and help in the relief effort. Those interested may purchase via a Pay Pal account, money order, cashier’s check, or Western Union.
