Fugitive allegedly selling ‘ice’ falls
The Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Friday a fugitive who allegedly sells crystal methamphetamine or “ice” in Gualo Rai.
Changfeng Zhang, 30, also known as KK, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday on charges of trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
Superior Court Associate Judge Perry B. Inos imposed a $9,000 cash bail for Zhang’s temporary release.
Preliminary hearing will be on July 16 at 9am.
Task force detective Steven A. Castro stated in his report that they were able to purchase from Zhang a total of $1,200 worth of “ice” during three sting operations in June and July.
Castro said that, on June 14, 2012, he and another detective spoke to a “cooperating source” about a Chinese man named KK who was allegedly selling “ice.”
Castro said that, on June 15, the task force used an undercover police officer and the “cooperating source” to buy $200 worth of “ice” from Zhang.
The second operation occurred the next day, June 16, during which the same undercover police officer and “cooperating source” bought $200 worth of “ice” from the defendant.
The third operation was held on Friday, July 6, where the same undercover officer and “cooperating source” bought $800 worth of “ice” from Zhang.
After the suspect gave the illegal drugs to the two, he allegedly proceeded to a poker establishment in Garapan.
Castro said the arresting team proceeded to the game room where they arrested Zhang.
Castro said further investigation showed that Zhang is wanted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation.
