The Northern Marianas College dispelled speculations of students yesterday about the Master of Education–Concentration in International Teaching program and rumors about the program’s possible discontinuation.

Les Ogumoro-Uludong, Framingham State University site coordinator, stated that the program will only be discontinued if the minimum number of required students is not met.

The minimum number of students that are required in order to form a cohort—which is a graduating class—is 23 and, according to Ogumoro-Uludong there were less than 10 students who had signed up for the spring program, which resulted in the program being postponed until fall.

FSU still has spots for the fall program.

The program is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. NMC had been hosting the program since 2001, with over 300 CNMI graduates so far.

Last December 2019, there were 24 graduates from Cohort 12; this April, there will be 25 graduates from Cohort 13.

In order to enter the program, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. An applicant with a foreign degree must submit an official transcript(s) that will be viewed for general evaluation, and have a preferred quality point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.

For eligible applicants, you must submit a signed application, pay a $100 application fee, have official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (if a transcript is in a foreign language, you must provide a certified English translation), two letters of recommendation that includes a cover form and letter, an essay on one’s Philosophy of Education with a minimum of 500 words, and an updated professional résumé.
